Foundations of Productivity

My main problem with Prioritizing For Productivity is my desire to avoid it. It’s too easy to disengage and lose enthusiasm.

If I am interested in a task, I can work hard and get it done. Interest in the work is the foundation of productivity.

I’ve not yet figured out the trick of interest in my work. It’s always been I’m either interested or not. I did well in school because everything was interesting when I was in school.

Self-determination theory posits that we need Autonomy, Relatedness, and Competency. In a job lacking those, we become unmotivated and disengaged.

And there’s the foundation: Motivation.

I’m looking for motivation to do my work.
I’m looking for motivation to relate to my coworkers.
I’m looking for motivation to engage and become enthusiastic.
I’m looking for motivation to take my Autonomy to do great things for my employer.
I’m looking for motivation for my competence to shine.
