Hope

Almost two years ago, one Saturday, after I got on antidepressants, I went to the bank to get some coins for my kids’ allowances. Talking to the bank teller, I felt I could use her name, be pleasant, and make her smile. I realized I had hope for the first time in months or years.
That was the moment that I knew the antidepressants worked. A few days later, I arrived at work and knew I could concentrate without the self-distraction.
That hope allowed me to say yes to work, to say no to self-distraction, and to motivate myself.
With hope, life is so much better. With hope, great deeds are within reach.
